Job mission
Under the authority of the Head of Office and the supervision of the Head of the Criminal Law Division, Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law (DG I) of the Council of Europe, the position-holder will assist the implementation of the Joint EU/CoE Programme “Human Rights and Healthcare in Prisons and Other Closed Institutions in Georgia”.
Employment is limited to the duration of the project (expected duration until 25 September 2015).
Key activities
The incumbent will perform the following tasks in accordance with the Organisation’s procedures, guidelines and priorities, with a concern for quality, efficiency, accuracy and confidentiality:
- Provide logistical and secretarial assistance to the project team, and international and national experts, in the planning, organisation and follow-up of the project activities, in accordance with the Project work plan and in co-operation with the national partners and stakeholders;
- Process, draft and format documents, correspondence, publications, e-mails and fax messages;
- Provide translations, spelling and grammar checking, and editing in Georgian and English of the relevant project documents;
- Provide translations, spelling and grammar checking, and editing of correspondence and other documents concerning the project activities;
- Provide interpretation during small scale meetings;
- Assist with and advise on the visibility of the project and other relevant communication tasks;
- Seek and collect information and documentation and data on request; keep information accurate and up to date;
- Carry out the practical organisation of meetings;
- Provide secretarial and linguistic assistance to visitors and experts;
- Carry out other tasks as may be required connected to the project implementation;
- Promote the Council of Europe’s values internally and externally.
Eligibility Requirements
This local recruitment procedure is open to candidates resident in Georgia.
Nationality: The appointed candidate must be a national of a Council of Europe member State;
Qualification: Completed higher education followed by an appropriate professional qualification;
Experience: At least two years’ relevant professional experience in administrative and secretarial duties;
Experience in translation and interpretation to and from English/Georgian;
Language requirements: Excellent knowledge of Georgian (mother tongue level); Ability to express oneself, present and draft clearly, concisely and convincingly in English;
ICT skills: Sound computer skills of standard tools in office applications (word processing, spreadsheet, data bases, presentation software, outlook, internet/intranet publication).
